Who Are We?

Catherine Bruzzone - Managing Director and Publisher, started b small in 1990. (See Authors' section for more personal information as I'm also an author.)

Why 'b small'? We are a small publisher, we produce books for small people and we also have a bee in our logo...as shown in these examples of our recent catalogues:



The rest of the b small team all work closely together but independently, so we have sometimes been described as a 'virtual publisher'. Here is a brief introduction (in alphabetical order!).

Madeleine Ehm is our production manager and keeps in close contact with our main Hong Kong suppliers (colour reproduction and printing) and the warehouse where some of our stock is held in the UK. She is also the main contact for our co-edition partners when their books are in production.
For production matters, contact Madeleine at the main b small address. However, please note that we work very closely with a few suppliers and are not looking for any new suppliers at present.

Scott Gibson designed and built this website and is our IT consultant. He is multi-talented having trained originally as a graphic designer. So when he isn't giving his many client publishers essential computer support, he enjoys designing books too.

Susan Martineau is our freelance editor, as well as writing many of our most popular activity books. You can read a fuller biography in our Contributors' section.

Caroline MacMillan helped b small grow and develop, handling special sales and general admin for more than 10 years. As our requirements have changed, she is no longer a regular on the team but we owe her a great deal and she is still a 'friend of b small' and helps out with busy times.

Louise Millar is our freelance design manager. Louise has worked for most of the major children's publishers and is based in Wimbledon.

Anne Murray is still helping us with rights and contracts but the main rights contact is now Catherine Bruzzone.

Peter Osborn is our special adviser helping us take a longer and wider view of the business and also identifying new sales opportunities worldwide.

Charlotte Rolfe is the series editor of the new parallel text bilingual series for older children: Let's Read French/Spanish. She is a very experienced ELT and educational editor.

Our aim is to produce high quality, child-centred activity and early foreign language learning books. We want the books to look good and stand out and be fun and good value for children and parents.
