Do you love learning new languages? Are you friends with other children who speak another language at home...or do you speak another language yourself? Have you started learning a new language? How many languages can you say 'hello' in? (Count the ways. It's the perfect start!) Please enter our competition so that we can promote language learning across the country.
We would like you to write and illustrate a short story in a foreign language on any subject you like. We will pick two winners from the entries and publish the winning stories as e-books on our website. Each winner will also receive a b small library worth £100 for your home or your school.
The story should be no more than four pages and you can use lots of illustrations to help tell your story. You must write your story in one of the following four languages:
- French - German - Italian - Spanish
There are thousands more languages spoken in the world but there are only three of us here at b small publishing, so we have limited the competition to the languages we can speak so we can read your entries.
We look forward to reading your stories and sharing the winners with you all. Competition entry details are below.
Good luck! Bonne chance! Viel Glück! In bocca al lupo! ¡Buena suerte!
Two Categories:
Aged 6 to 9 years* Aged 9 to 11 years*
*Those of you who are nine years old have been included in both categories in case you are entering the competition with your classmates.
Closing date - 1st June 2013 Winners will be announced - 1st July 2013
Use one of the following two templates to write your story:
1. Illustrated story 2. Comic book story

If you want, you can work with your classmates to create a story collaboratively. The b small library of books worth £100 will be donated to your school library if you win.
We have a team of expert judges who will be pouring over the entries to select the winner: Catherine Cheater (Author and Educational Consultant), Catherine Garland (Online Bookseller at www.little-linguist.co.uk), Catherine Bruzzone (Publisher at b small publishing ltd) and even though she's not called Catherine, Elizabeth Laird, award-winning children's author and author of several b small bilingual stories has agreed to join us (see more about her here).
